ResumeShortlisted is designed with privacy in mind. We do not require you to create an account.Your resume is kept in your browser. It is sent to our servers only when you use a feature that needs it — AI features, “Fix my resume”, opening a resume from the ATS checker in our builder, PDF downloads, or a paid edit link — and anything we keep for those features is deleted automatically within the time periods described below.

1. Information We Collect

Resume & Personal Information

When you use ResumeShortlisted, you enter personal and professional information to build your resume, such as your name, contact details, work experience, education, and skills. This data is stored in your browser, and is sent to our servers only when you use one of the features described in this policy.

Free ATS Resume Checker

The free ATS score on our ATS Resume Checker is calculated entirely in your browser. Nothing you paste or upload is sent to our servers to calculate it — PDFs are read on your device.

“Fix my resume” and Opening Your Resume in the Builder

If you choose “Fix my resume”, or choose to open your pasted resume in our builder, your resume text (and job description, if you added one) is sent to our servers for AI processing. Your email address, phone number, and links are removed in your browser before anything is sent; they stay on your device and are added back when your resume opens in the builder.

• A "Fix my resume" result is stored on our servers so you can preview and unlock it, and is deleted automatically 24 hours after it is created.
• Opening your resume in the builder does not store it on our servers.
• On the Free plan, a resume opened from the checker is kept in your browser for up to 24 hours, so closing the tab doesn't lose it.

Job Descriptions

If you paste a job description for ATS analysis, AI tailoring, or “Fix my resume”, it is processed alongside your resume solely to produce the result you asked for. It is stored only as part of a “Fix my resume” result or an edit link, and is deleted with them.

PDF Downloads

To produce your PDF, your resume is sent to our server, converted to PDF, and returned to you. It is not stored afterwards.

Payment Information

We do not collect or store your payment details. All payments are processed securely by Razorpay. We only receive a confirmation that a payment was successful, along with a transaction reference. Please refer to Razorpay's Privacy Policy for details on how they handle your payment data.

Edit Links (Paid Plans)

On a paid plan, you can ask us to email you a temporary edit link so you can return to your resume. When you do, a copy of your resume, job description, and chosen template is stored on our servers until the link expires (24 hours for Pro, 36 hours for AI Premium), and is then deleted automatically. We use your email address only to send the link and to prevent abuse; it is deleted within 24 hours and never used for marketing.

Usage Information

We collect limited usage information to run and improve the service: product events (for example, which steps you complete, scores, and which plan you choose — never the text of your resume), an anonymous identifier for your browser, and your IP address, which we use temporarily to prevent abuse and enforce usage limits.

2. How We Use Your Information

• To render and display your resume in real time within the app
• To provide the AI features you request, such as summaries, bullet point rewrites, skill suggestions, ATS analysis, and "Fix my resume" results
• To generate your PDF downloads
• To process your payment and unlock what you paid for
• To store your resume for your edit link and email that link to you, if requested
• To understand how the product is used and fix problems
• To prevent abuse, such as excessive free AI usage or automated requests

We do not sell your data or use it for advertising.

3. AI Processing

Our AI features — such as summary generation, bullet point rewriting, skill suggestions, ATS analysis, and “Fix my resume” — are powered by trusted third-party AI service providers. When you use one of these features, only the parts of your resume (and job description, if provided) needed for that feature are sent for processing.

We do not use your resume content to train AI models. Our AI providers process requests under their own terms and may retain request data for a limited period, for example for abuse monitoring.

AI-generated content may contain errors or placeholders (such as [X%]) that you need to fill in. Please review it before use — it is a suggestion, not professional advice.

4. Data Storage & Retention

In your browser

On our servers

• "Fix my resume" results: deleted automatically 24 hours after they are created.
• Edit link copies of your resume: deleted automatically when the link expires (24 hours for Pro, 36 hours for AI Premium).
• AI requests, builder imports, and PDF generation: processed and returned to you, not stored.
• Payment and credit records: a reference to your order and what it unlocks, kept only as long as needed to deliver your purchase (no more than 7 days). Razorpay keeps its own transaction records.
• Abuse-prevention and usage-limit data: deleted automatically, no more than 7 days.

We do not keep permanent copies of your resume on our servers.

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information for marketing purposes. We share data only with the service providers we need to run ResumeShortlisted, and only for that purpose:

• AI service providers, to process the AI features you request
• Razorpay, our payment gateway, to process payments
• An email delivery provider, to send your edit link if requested
• Hosting and data storage providers, to run the website and the temporary storage described above
• Analytics providers, to understand how the product is used (see Section 6)

6. Cookies & Similar Technologies

• Preferences — remembers your light/dark mode choice.
• Security — helps us prevent misuse of free usage limits. It contains no personal information and lasts up to 60 days.
• Product analytics — an anonymous identifier that helps us understand how the product is used. We collect only non-identifying events, never your resume text. We may also record session replays to find usability problems; these are fully masked — all text and everything you type is hidden — so they show only layout, clicks, and navigation.
• Your browser's storage — holds your resume, your plan, and your progress, as described in Section 4.

We do not use advertising cookies.

7. Children's Privacy

ResumeShortlisted is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

8. Your Rights

Your resume is stored in your browser, so you control it: you can delete it at any time by clearing your browser's storage for this site or by discarding your resume in the app. Copies on our servers (“Fix my resume” results and edit links) are deleted automatically within the periods above. If you want something deleted sooner, or have questions about your data, contact us with your edit link or payment reference and we will help.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
